How To Style: Monochromatic

Stephanie Jackson

glitter sweater | wide leg pants | pink velvet shoes | sunglasses | lipcolor

Styling monochromatic looks has been my obsession lately. It's so easy to do and often times you'll already have the pieces in your closet to make it happen. I did an all red look a few weeks ago, and this week I'm having fun with warmer tones.

I found the sweater at HM and started building my look from there. I honestly didn't buy these pieces with the intent of wearing them together, but it all worked so well when I started styling outfits for the week.

Monochromatic by definition is using only one color. I like to use different shades and tones of the same color to really elevate my look. Would you believe me if I told you I bought my velvet shoes over a year ago and I'm just now wearing them? I had to wait for the perfect style moment. I'm just thrilled they are still in style!

Have you tried the monochromatic look? Here's a little style challenge for you, go to your closet and see what pieces you have in the same color. Then start building your look, even if it's a casual one! Give it a try. E-mail me or DM me on Instagram and let me know how you do! I want to see!

Thanks for stopping by the blog today!

How To Mix Casual And Glam Style

Stephanie Jackson

As you can see, I had quite the field day on during their Black Friday sales. Every day new items were posted and I couldn't help myself! I wanted it all. By far my favorite find that has come in the mail so far is this incredibly fabulous sweater with faux fur sleeves. The pictures online just don't do it justice.

The first thing that rolls through my mind when I get something new is ... how am I going to style this? I also ordered velvet joggers during my shopping spree and went back and forth in my head about whether or not these two pieces would work together or not ... boy do they! Add the clean grey and white Nike's and you have yourself a glam but also extremely comfortable outfit.

When styled right, casual and glam work great together. What I love about this look are the mixed materials and texture; faux fur, velvet, wool and ... plot twist ... sneakers.

Have fun with your style! I could have easily dressed this sweater up with faux leather leggings, a skirt or even nice jeans with heels, but that's so predictable! Switch it up a bit, don't be afraid to try new things, even if you're not sure it will work. The great thing about style is that it's personal, it doesn't matter if other people don't like it! It's your style!

I'd love to see how you guys rock your casual glam!

How To Style: Preppy Look #2

Stephanie Jackson

I took a cue from the mannequins at J. Crew and layered my sweater with a chambray button up underneath. Obviously, this isn't a groundbreaking trend, but I definitely had fun trying something different with my everyday style. I added the pink velvet shoes for added flair, the contrasting colors and textures makes for an effortlessly chic looking outfit.

Know Your Neutrals:

1. Stripes

2. Plaid

3. Polka Dots

It's easy to mix patterns and prints when you know your neutrals. There are so many options and routes you could take with this turtleneck from J. Crew, I opted for safe and easy, but adding pops of color and other prints would be a great way to mix things up a bit.

What do you think? Are you into the preppy chic look? It's a pretty safe styling option, and I'll admit that it's not my first choice when I am putting looks together, HOWEVER, I recognize that everyone doesn't dress like me! So I wanted to share my take on this outfit option!

Thanks so much for reading the blog, I love you guys! By the way: I just added a steph-scriber section for you all to subscribe to my newsletter that I'll be rolling out in January! I'm SO excited! So if you haven't signed up yet, you can do it HERE
