This Christmas countdown is getting so real! Two days? Wow! I feel like this year has flown by. Macy's Backstage was super sweet and sent me this sweater and booties look to help me get ready this holiday season, and I am totally in love. All of my shopping is finished, my family has arrived and the cooking has started. I kicked off the week at the Tootsies Holiday Media Mingle, and my goodness! That crew knows how to throw a great party ... it doesn't hurt that the store is absolutely gorgeous and all the goodies are to die for! I seriously can't wait to go back and shop!
I am sure that many of you are getting holiday ready, just like me! The menu is made, all of my desserts are prepped, and I made a vow that tomorrow morning I will only go to the grocery store ONE time!
I'm sharing today how I get holiday ready and my Christmas menu!
I started baking on Thursday to get ahead of all of the cooking that is about to ensue over the next few days. I started with my grandma's chocolate cake, followed by an absolutely delicious caramel cake and 3 pans of a chocolate cracker toffee. I really wanted to bake a pecan pie as well, but honestly, I was spent and ready to sit down ... Sooo store bought pie it is! #noshame!
For Christmas Eve, Eve I mainly spent the day with family and made sure I had all of my ingredients ready to go. I'm not one that spends a ton of time in the kitchen, but I've learned a lot over the years from trial and error and watching my mom and sisters. And one thing I've learned is stay organized and have a plan!
For Christmas dinner, I shop early and I highly recommend doing this! The only thing I'll be shopping for on Christmas Eve is more bacon and eggs to feed my guests! (These breakfasts are about to be on point!)
Here's the Christmas Dinner menu:
Jason Jackson's Famous Cajun Turkey (famous to our family! My hubby throws down)
Holiday Spiral Ham
Cajun Seafood Dressing
Green Bean Casserole
Mama's Mac & Cheese
Southern Collard Greens
Sister Shubert's Dinner Rolls
I'll start cooking on Christmas Eve, the goal is to have everything prepped and ready, that way on the big day, all I have to do is put it in the oven as soon as we wake up.
Something else I do is plan my breakfasts out. Christmas Eve, Eve didn't go quite as planned because my family arrived this morning and I didn't have breakfast ready. My hubby assumed they had already eaten, so we didn't make anything, but thankfully I was able to whip together some pancakes really quick! #phew!
Christmas Eve breakfast will be French Toast Cups! I even did a trial run earlier this week and they were a hit! I found the BEST recipe on Tasty (so so good!). Christmas morning will be biscuits, the frozen kind that I can pop in the oven while everyone is opening presents. I buy mine from Costco but you can find them at any grocery store!
It's been a busy week in the Jackson household preparing for Christmas! We are working hard to not forget the true reason for the season in the madness of it all. I pray that each of you has an incredibly blessed Christmas and Happy New Year.
Thank you so much for all of your support this year. I'm so excited for what is to come.
Be blessed. Merry Christmas 🌲
