Get The Look:

Finding your voice can be both liberating and terrifying. Today I'm personally talking about my journey, but really this should resonate with anyone seeking to hear their voice for the first time or for the first time in a long time ... loud and clear

Working for yourself and building a brand is not easy. In fact, it's one of the more challenging things I have ever done in this life. At the end of last year, I found myself unsure of what my voice was. I was creating content, but still felt voiceless. Probably because I wasn't creating content that I felt genuinely proud of. I was simply posting to post, rather than touching on topics that I actually care about. When I decided to just be "me" at the beginning of this year, it felt good, scary, but good. I have no idea if people will like the not so cookie cutter version of myself, but ... that's who I am. And I think in order to really get the most out of this life, you've got to stay true to who you are.

When you start trying to stay true to who people think you should be, you lose your voice.

So how in the world do I hear myself, loud and clear, in a world full of crazy?

1. Remember why you started.

When in doubt, I always use this as a point of reference. When I'm annoyed with my husband or my children and wondering WHY THE HELL I ever decided to do this whole family thing to begin with, I remember why I started - and it all stems from LOVE. Or when I'm feeling burnt out on my blog, I take the break my body is obviously telling me that I need, and when I'm ready, I sit down, regroup, and remember why I started - and that is  because I LOVE writing and fashion. My blog fills an incredible void.

2.  Have a clear picture of your goals.

I am not the most organized person in my personal life. I'll never understand how I can operate like a machine at work but at home be a complete mess, but oh well, it pays the bills :) Write down where you want to be vs. where you are right now. Be ambitious. I think when you know where you're going and what you want to gain out of life, it's easier to tune out the noise.

3. Speak what you want into existence.

I realized that I heard myself more loudly when I spoke to myself both in prayer and in words of affirmation. If I am preparing for a big meeting or something important, I speak LIFE into it. I claim victory. "It's mine!" I truly believe it makes a difference and helps to keep your voice/purpose loud and clear.

I know it's easier said than done sometimes, but I promise it can be done. I really try to focus on my voice, especially in the blogging world, as there are so many voices and different ways of doing things. Like I said before, staying true is the key. I was going to title this post, 'finding your voice in a sea of bloggers,' but I realize that all of my readers are not other bloggers! I hope this resonates with you as much as it has with me. And as always THANK YOU so much for reading! I appreciate you!

Have a great week, loves!

XO
