Our Stay At The Jamaica Inn

Traveling to Jamaica has been on our wish list for quite sometime now. The last time my husband and I went on an adventure without our boys was 2014 - so we are well overdue! The destination was decided on, but we needed to figure out the details. We did some searching online for a few months, but honestly we happened upon The Jamaica Inn by chance when I got an email about their 60th anniversary celebration. After looking online and reading their reviews, I knew that this place was special.

We booked a Monday - Friday trip and I think that was the perfect amount of time to really enjoy ourselves and unplug.

Now for the details! When we landed in Jamaica, we set up a shuttle with the Inn and they had a driver waiting for us at the airport. This was well worth the money. I loved not having to worry about how we were going to get to the resort. Our driver was so nice, on our way in he stopped us at a local restaurant called Scotchies. I was a little uneasy at first considering we were fully trusting a man we just met at the airport to take us to a local restaurant off the resort, but when I tell you that this was one of the best meals I've ever had in my life ... I mean that with everything in me! Wow! We of course ordered jerk chicken (when in Jamaica, right?) and this amazing side dish called the festival. So so good.

When we finished our yummy meal, we continued on to the resort. We had looked at pictures online for weeks leading up to the trip, but nothing compares to the breathtaking beauty of the uninterrupted ocean view and the quaint blue cottages that fill the property at The Jamaica Inn.

We were greeted by the friendly staff, handed a yummy beverage (Planter's Punch) and shown to our room for the week. We were in the Premier Verandah Suite. I can't put into words how warm and genuine everyone was during our entire stay. I was blown away at how nice everyone was and how perfect all of our accommodations were.

Our first night, we relaxed by the beach and got settled into our room. We ordered room service and listened to the waves on our veranda - it was magical!

The next morning we got up and got dressed, of course took a few photos for the blog and then went to breakfast. There are several food/beverage options available, but we opted for the breakfast package only. Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day, so every morning I got a big plate (some times multiple plates) of food. Fresh fruit, fresh squeezed juice, omelets, french toast ... I could go on! They also serve traditional Jamaican breakfast options every day and this is what Jason ordered. He loves to try new things and really be one with his environment!

After breakfast every day we would head to the beach to relax in the sun and swim in the ocean. There is really nothing like having a room that walks right out to beach. If we needed something, we were just steps away from our room. I love being in the water and Jason loves to snorkel, so we really enjoyed ourselves. We'd order lunch on the beach every day and the attentive beach crew would keep the food and drinks coming.

There were water activities available for all guests, so we got to go out on a canoe, snorkel and play with floaties and toys all week long. I'm not a great swimmer, so the fact that the resort has a lifeguard on duty during peak times was super comforting.

Wednesday night there was a owner's reception where we got to mingle with the staff of the resort and meet a representative of the owner's family. You could just feel the family vibes all around, we really felt like we were at home and a part of something truly amazing.

The next morning we went out on a little adventure with Tony, a local tour guide who facilitates tours and excursions for the resort guests. We decided to do the Laughing Waters tour, I shared a little recap on my Instagram but it's linked below as well. This was a trip highlight for sure.

We loved staying at the Jamaica Inn and we were already planning a trip back before our trip even ended. We decided we'd want to stay in the same room we stayed in last time (it was perfect) and that we'd want to go around the same time of year. The food was spectacular, the staff was incredible, the room was a dream and the view was like something out of a movie.

I've had so many friends mention that they want to come visit the resort too. I feel like I've discovered a gem, but I'm happy to share with you all, since we're all friends here :) Editing a few videos and will update the post with more footage this week! Thank you for reading!
