Relentless.

Stephanie Jackson

I do what I want to do. This trait has come back to bite me tenfold with a child who seems to have the same attitude, but I am smart enough to know that while it is absolutely terrible right now, it will take him far in life (at least I hope).

I have always been one to not be able to sleep or think straight until I follow through with a goal I've set for myself or accomplished what I've set out to accomplish. My husband will be the first to tell you that this hasn't always worked out in my favor, but I can say without a doubt, I've attempted more things on my "dreams" list than I have not. And Lord willing, I still have a lot more time to keep going.

I meet a lot of people who have goals they want to accomplish, or a business they want to start and the most common question I get in my DM or email is "how did you start your blog??" And my answer is always as simple as this - I just started. I didn't have all the answers, but I had a vision for what I wanted to do and I work hard every day to bring that vision to life. I am SO far from where I want to be, but because I got started, I further than where I was.

Sometimes you have to just jump in the game. Yes there will be bumps and bruises along the way, but that's to be expected. "I do what I want" got me in a little bit of trouble when I was a teenager, but today it has shaped me to be relentless in pursuing my dreams.

So today on the blog I wanted to share my top 5 reasons why sometimes being relentless and pushing hard towards your goals is a good thing.

1. The only thing stopping me is me.

Steve Harvey said this once in an interview ... "be relentless" in the pursuit of your dreams. Relentless. That's a powerful word. I keep that in the back of my mind when I feel like giving up. Relentless. I think that success is a bit of a mind game really, how far can you push yourself when you know the only thing standing in your way is you?

2. It doesn't matter what anyone else thinks.

I have to repeat this to myself often. Sometimes I say something silly in a meeting, or do something I regret, but in all honesty, what they think doesn't matter. Stay focused on your end goal. No one can take anything from you that is truly meant for you.

3. If you want it, go get it.

I tell my kids this all the time. If you want something, roll up your sleeves and make it happen. Don't cry about not having everything you want when it's within your control to make it happen.

4. No risk, no reward.

Everyone has heard this before right? You won't strike gold if you don't start digging. So what if you fail the first few times, something good is coming. Chin up.

5. Satisfaction.

I find great satisfaction in the fact that this is my blog, and no one can take it away from me. I work for myself (and my beautiful family of course). It's a great feeling.

So whatever it is that you keep thinking about but you've been too afraid to start, just start. You'll figure it out. And you don't the first time, it's okay, I bet the next time you get up and start again, you'll be stronger and wiser for it.

Be relentless.
